Silver Pitcher by Paul Revere, The Most Famous of American Silversmiths, Gavels for A Record $129,875 at Weiss Auctions

The pitcher, 6 ½ inches in height, was engraved with the initials of Benjamin Russell, the American journalist and founder and editor of the newspaper the Columbian Centinel. 

The John Barr Collection of Horse-Related Items and Other Objects will be Auctioned February 26th by Golden Sun Auctions

Barr was originally an oil man and real estate developer, but he became heavily involved in the horse racing industry. He was a prominent breeder who had several winning horses.

Another Nova Scotia folk artist – Joe Norris (1924-1996) – also did well, as four of his paintings combined for $49,560. Overall, the auction grossed $491,264.
