The posters were purchased in the ‘90s from the estate of a theater proprietor. They’ve been stored ever since and have never been traded or sold. Many were never displayed.

The pitcher, 6 ½ inches in height, was engraved with the initials of Benjamin Russell, the American journalist and founder and editor of the newspaper the Columbian Centinel. 

The John Barr Collection of Horse-Related Items and Other Objects will be Auctioned February 26th by Golden Sun Auctions

Barr was originally an oil man and real estate developer, but he became heavily involved in the horse racing industry. He was a prominent breeder who had several winning horses.
